The Philippine National Anti-Doping Organization (PHI-NADO) took part in the World Anti-Doping Agency’s (WADA) Intergovernmental Ministerial Meeting and Asia/Oceania Regional Symposium held in Beijing, China from 1 to 3 June 2026, joining anti-doping leaders, government representatives, and key stakeholders from across the region.
Representing the country were PSC Chairman John Patrick Gregorio, PHI-NADO Head Dr. Alejandro Pineda Jr., and PSC Chief of Staff Louise Jashil Sonido, whose presence highlighted the Philippines' unwavering commitment to protecting athletes and keeping sports fair.
On the sidelines of the ministerial meeting, the Philippine delegation met with WADA President Witold Bańka to discuss current developments in the global anti-doping movement and explore opportunities for closer collaboration in advancing clean sport initiatives and athlete protection.
A major highlight of the three-day engagement was the Asia/Oceania Regional Symposium, which brought together anti-doping organizations, government representatives, athletes, and other stakeholders to discuss preparations for the implementation of the World Anti-Doping Code 2027 and its International Standards. Organized under WADA’s 2027 Code Implementation Support Program, the symposium focused on key updates to the Code and Standards, compliance preparedness, and strategies for meaningful stakeholder engagement.
Participants took part in a series of interactive sessions that encouraged the exchange of experiences and best practices through case studies, peer discussions, stakeholder stories, and athlete and government engagement activities. These discussions provided valuable insights into the practical application of the upcoming revisions while fostering stronger partnerships and cooperation among countries within the Asia/Oceania region.
Through its active participation in these important international conferences, PHI-NADO reaffirmed its commitment to promoting clean, fair, and values-based sport.
The organization remains dedicated to strengthening anti-doping efforts in the Philippines and contributing to the collective goal of ensuring the successful adoption and implementation of the World Anti-Doping Code 2027 and its International Standards.
